It certainly feels as though spring has arrived. We have a short half term until Easter.

Thanks so much to everyone who has sent in donations for the Mother鈥檚 Day Sale. Please see attached letter from the Student Council. We will happily accept donations in advance for the Father鈥檚 Day sale as we found last year these were more of a challenge; perhaps its easier when you are spring cleaning. At any rate we have received some donations.

Information
Preparation for Adulthood.
Hannah Fuller and I are working on a toolkit for parents/carers on the above. We have focused on areas many of you identified as ones you aren鈥檛 confidant about and the implications for your young people as they transition to being adults with special needs.
Shortly we will have a second date for the Parent Carer Forum on PfA and we want to involve you in plans which will help you and your young people be prepared for this step.
We will also add the toolkit to the school website once it is complete. Some of you have asked for paper copies. This will be possible, but it will contain links. A paper copy, referring to rules, regulations, policies is only as up to date as when it is published. Over the last few years there have been changes and there will be more. It isn鈥檛 practical to review on a daily basis, although I will always share what I know in my blogs.
I would like to draw your attention to a list of subjects I have covered over the last few months.

Activities
National Lottery Open Week!
This looks interesting but is only available between 15th and 23rd March. Purchase 1 lottery ticket to gain 1 free entry to selected venues. Most are the weekend of 22/23 March but some a week earlier.
During Open Week, you can get free or low-cost entry to all listed venues, along with special extras such as discounts in gift shops and restaurants, or half-price tours. You can use the Open Week to visit a range of historical houses, castles and museums, head to natural beauty spots, take tours of famous sport venues, or get access to participating art galleries, theatres and cinemas.
All you need to do is present a lottery card or scratch card at the entrance to participating venues (one per person). It can be digital or physical, and if you happen to have a ticket to hand from playing in the past, there鈥檚 no need to purchase a new one. If you do need to buy one, we found an Instant Win for just 50p on the听, and an even cheaper one for 25p on the National Lottery app.
Just make sure you鈥檙e presenting one lottery ticket per person at the entrance of the venue 鈥 the cheapest available that we saw was the Prize Ball Red Instant Win game for 25p, available via the free National Lottery app. Keep in mind that some venues might have capacity limits and be extra busy, so it might be worth trying to visit at a non-peak time.
Booking in advance? It depends on the venue. You should be able to find the specific rules for each one by clicking through from the听听to the venue鈥檚 offer page, and scrolling down.
It鈥檚 worth bearing in mind that some venues allow an entire group to enter with a lottery ticket, whereas some allow one adult and all accompanying children. Others may require you to pay for tickets for those under 18+ (as this is the age requirement for participating in the National Lottery).
Here is a link to the places in the North East you can visit.
Half price admission to Alnwick Garden and Lilledorei is on the list!
Its only 5 weeks to the Easter holidays so look out for Easter holiday activities starting now.
As I come across published programmes I will share in the blogs.

Below is a slight variation on the authors words, with my own slant
Special Needs mothers are amongst the strongest people I know, but they probably don鈥檛 believe it about themselves.
Know that you are good enough.
You are strong enough.
And that your babies love you beyond belief.
Today, take a deep breath and remember that you are doing a great job.
We may be mothers, but we are听听first.
And boy, are we strong.
Happy International Women鈥檚 Day for tomorrow.
