Over the last few weeks/months, I have chosen topics to cover in depth. This week, rather than adding something new I thought I would simply state what I have covered, and you can check the relevant Family Liaison blog for further information.

I recently did a webinar on PIP and Access to Work, and yesterday did one on DLA. I will cover these separately over the next 2 weeks.

In case you haven鈥檛 heard, the HAF funding from the Dept for Education is continuing for one more year so here at North Tyneside, we want to make it a great year!

Our first event of the year will take place on Friday 28th February which falls in the half term break. It will involve stories, crafts and lots of fun. It is called 鈥楳onstrous Tales at Wallsend Library- A World Book Day Adventure鈥�

This activity is already on the regular booking system. Children 5-7 must be accompanied by an adult but 8s and over may stay on their own. Further details will be available on the booking system, but places are very limited. We have SEND specialists to support in the afternoon and it will be lots of fun! This isn鈥檛 actually a HAF funded event so no food will be on offer although we are doing a deal with the in-house caf茅 so parents can grab a cheap drink whilst the children get creative.

We are currently in the process of planning the Easter activities and we have some familiar provisions as well as some exciting new activities on offer. There will also be family offers such as tickets to a Newcastle Eagles match, and more Jump 360 visits, swim/gym passes and ice skating. Please make sure when booking that your child will use the passes as, in the past, we had so much interest yet so very few were used. We still must pay for non-attendance and this impacts on our ability to provide more activities.

What else is happening?

This farm in Morpeth has reopened for the season. There has been a lot of work on making it more accessible, with a changing place, 3 sensory rooms, sensory bag hire, wheelchair accessible roundabout, level access, a tractor which can take 2 wheelchairs, blending service for those on peg feeds, quiet hours & inclusive animal feeding. That鈥檚 quite a list, isn鈥檛 it? Carers can avail of 1 reduced ticket at 拢9 with evidence of DLA/PIP, Carers Allowance. Only 1 per disabled visitor and Max cards are not accepted. It is about 拢1 per ticket cheaper if you book online and if you create an account can change the date of your visit with an admin payment of 拢2.

Save the date! Our next FoPHS meeting is on Monday 3^rd March 14-15.00. That鈥檚 the first day back; how did I manage to do that? It would be lovely to see a few more parents engage with us.
