91Ê×·¢ Foundation Shortlisted in National Awards
2025 is definitely off to a flying start. The British Diversity Awards finalists have just been released, and The 91Ê×·¢ Foundation has been shortlisted for the second time running!
We’ve been recognised under the ‘Community Project of the Year’ category for our Disability Awareness Training, which is delivered and developed by a group of our excellent young adults from Hedleys College.ÌýÌý
This remarkable group, each of whom lives with a disability are the definition of resilience and creativity. Using their passion to educate society about disability awareness and inclusion, they’ve delivered their Disability Awareness Training to over 30 venues, including employers and schools, and they’ve presented it to over 1200 people in the last 12 months!Ìý
What started off as training to a small group of peers and new employees has since grown to a presentation that captivates audiences of 200 people. Our young adults deliver this presentation with professionalism and poise, making a positive impact on every single audience member.Ìý
What does the Disability Awareness Training include?Ìý
Our young adults use this presentation as a chance to showcase how people can better understand their disabilities and how to be more inclusive in day-to-day life.ÌýÌý
A generous donation from Northumbria Police now means that tools such as iPads, switches, symbol books and sensory resources are used to show how individuals with different disabilities communicate and thrive. Audiences get to hear more about our young adults’ lives and ask questions to help deepen their understanding, paving the way for a more inclusive society.Ìý
The presentation receives glowing feedback from audiences, which is testament to the hard work and passion of our young adults in delivering such an inspiring presentation.Ìý
What are the British Diversity Awards?Ìý
The British Diversity Awards celebrate the individuals and organisations that continually strive to make workplaces and society better for all. They believe that by celebrating our differences, and those that work so hard to level the playing field, we can help make the UK a better place to live and work.ÌýÌý
The awards ceremony will be held on 19th March 2025 at the JW Marriott Grovesnor House in London – fingers crossed we get the win!Ìý
